Poppy, the trainee Guide Dog for the Blind being sponsored by Alasdair Morrison & Partners has matured so much over the last few months. She will soon be going off to Guide Dog Training School.
She has mastered more complex commands now, such as 'find the chair', during which she locates an empty chair and takes her handler to it. Very useful when waiting at the Doctor's surgery!
Poppy has also been persuaded to take her time when going up or down stairs. Which isn't easy when you're a boisterous young labrador, but she's learning quickly. At Training School, she'll be learning to stop at kerbs and stairs by recognising the difference in height.
She has also overcome her fear of larger vehicles, such as noisy tractors, and she is no longer fazed by busy and loud traffic.
Poppy is an adorable dog, who is full of life. Her fosterers will miss her when she goes off to Training School, they will even miss the soggy toys being dumped in their laps!
