Pupdate on Doris, the trainee Guide Dog

Doris, the trainee Guide Dog for the Blind is now living with her Puppy Raiser, Julie who says that Doris has settled in well and has a calm and quiet nature and is enjoying her new friend the two year old yellow labrador Jess.

Julie says Doris is a confident pup, and her loose lead walking is progressing nicely. Doris is also learning essential basic cues that will prepare her for training school which includes food manners which are great. She’s very food motivated, which is helpful for learning with positive reinforcement:  Doris is rewarded with treats, toys, or lots of fuss, and it makes everything fun for her so she’s always happy to learn more.

We can't wait to see what Doris gets up to as she moves on with her familiarisation of travelling and public spaces. Familiarisation of public spaces is crucial for Doris' future but Julie says that Doris will be great as nothing really fazes her.
